Junior Accounting/Finance Professional

The Junior Accounting/Finance Professional will join the Administrative Unit of the Energy Efficiency (EE) Portfolio, which will support the different EE projects in the implementation of their activities. Thus, close coordination with the staff in Kyiv as well as with the regional teams and partners is of utmost importance.

As junior accounting/finance professional you will take responsibility for supporting in and providing administrative services and financial and contract management for the Energy Efficiency (EE) Portfolio. This includes inter alia:

  • All tasks related to bookkeeping in the individual projects
  • Support in filing documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules
  • Supporting recording, financial reporting, etc. on local procurement of materials and equipment
  • Inventory recording to Onsite Asset
  • Supporting preparation of projects (portfolio) budgets and monitoring expenses in accordance with the budget
  • Managing cash withdrawals, keeping the cashbook, bank accounts, preparing and entering vouchers
  • Effecting payments via Internet banking
  • Support in preparing monthly period financial statements, cash records and bank reconciliation records
  • Processing settlement of applications for the reimbursement of travel expenses for the national project staff
  • Support in preparing reports from SAP
  • Preparing data and documents for the completion of expert and consulting contracts and local grant agreements to the country office
  • Supporting the accounting of expert and consulting contracts and local grant agreements according to GIZ-standards

Requirements to candidates

  • University degree in relevant specialisation and qualification in business administration desirable (equivalent of BA)
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • Very good knowledge of English and/or German; Ukrainian and Russian fluent
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Very good understanding of financial planning and accounting
  • Experience of management and administration willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management an independent and result-oriented approach, flexibility, self-organization and ability to withstand stress as well as intercultural competencies

Employment conditions

  • Full-time position with 40-hours working week until August 2020. Prolongation possible.
