The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced Ukrainian professionals for the position of Senior Social Media Assistant with its main Office in Kyiv. The OSCE is committed to achieving a better balance of women and men within the Organization.

NOTE: Initial duration of appointment/assignment for this post is until 31 March 2017, subject to a subsequent OSCE Permanent Council Decision to extend the mandate of the Mission. Confirmation of post grade is pending completion of classification review.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Press and Public Information Officer, and in coordination with Secretariat’s Communication and Media Relations Section, the Senior Social Media Assistant:

  • Maintains content and structure of the Mission’s pages on the OSCE Public website according to communication and editorial policies
  • Drafts and edits content (text, photos, documents and multimedia) for online publication
  • Ensures updates of mission pages and online content in local languages when translations available
  • Develops and manages editorial and multimedia projects (infographics, feature articles, photo stories) for publication on the Mission’s online presence
  • Monitors and analyses statistics on use of Mission’s pages; following indications and trends proposes changes in content publishing approaches
  • Assists in setting up Mission’s social media presences
  • Performs administrative functions on social media tools and accounts
  • Monitors the use of the Mission’s pages, respond to user queries and channel other queries to relevant colleagues
  • Researches and shares best practices
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Citizenship of Ukraine;
  • Completed secondary education;
  • A minimum of six years of relevant work experience in website editing and maintenance;
  • Professional fluency in English, Russian and Ukrainian languages, including excellent drafting skills;
  • University degree in journalism, communications, political science and/or international relations is preferred;
  • Excellent knowledge of modern content management software and web standards;
  • Good knowledge of and experience in using various social media platforms for professional/brand communication;
  • Familiarity with multimedia publishing tools and technologies is a bonus;
  • Familiarity with markup and formatting languages (e.g. HTML and CSS) is desirable, but not essential;
  • Sound political judgment and ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically with high level officials and media personnel;
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and with limited time frames;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Cultural sensitivity and judgment.

Remuneration Package:

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 1176.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.
