Local Marketing Specialist

Purpose of the job:

  • To identify and drive positioning and visitation opportunities for Market and PMA (Primary Market Area);
  • Seek new business opportunities through fact-based consumer/customer insights and engage colleagues to this;
  • Grow our core customer base and convert more visitors into loyal customers using the MEGA/IKEA, IKEA FAMILY and IKEA Concept
  • Brings the IKEA offer to the local market in ways that will establish IKEA as the leader in life at home and to be the first choice for home furnishings in all core areas of the home.


  • Develop the marketing plan and lead its implementation by setting and achieving the positioning and visitation goals within existing business and financial frames;
  • Identify business opportunities through deep market intelligence knowledge and analysis of all external and internal market and consumer and customer researches (Calypso, VCS, Brand Capital, ICSS and other researches)
  • Be in charge of the marketing communication in order to touch the many people’s hear and minds:
    • securing inspiration and creativity in all marketing communications by
    • alignment with the IKEA Concept and IKEA Brand guidelines;
    • efficient and effective use of media;
  • Grow our core customer base and convert more visitors into loyal customers using the MEGA/IKEA, IKEA FAMILY and IKEA Concept
  • Develop, implementation and coordinate local advertising and promotional activities by
    • securing guidelines implementation when it comes to marketing communications and local activities;
    • organising events with supervision of external vendors (including agencies, promoters, local media);
    • implementation of marketing activities in MEGA Shopping Centre;
    • making follow-ups of activities;
  • Support of IKEA Family loyalty program by:
    • increasing awareness, recruitment and identification rate;
    • securing data completeness and accuracy;
    • analysing IKEA Family database and applying of analysis results to adjust marketing activities;
    • supporting and providing content to IKEA FAMILY direct communication (sms, newsletters);
    • securing implementation of IKEA FAMILY guidelines in the store when it comes to co-worker training, in-store communication, member offers, workshops;
  • Identify and develop store internet page (as one of the key communication tools) for strengthen positioning and everyday growth
  • Be in control of the marketing budget, measuring all marketing metrics, identifying cost efficiencies, monitoring and following up all marketing investments.


  • Strong Marketing background (education and previous experience)
  • Good market intelligence and business thinking skills
  • Good analytical, numerical and organizational skills
  • Ability to be leader for others in different marketing projects
  • Ability to quickly develop knowledge of the local market and business conditions
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own work in order to make the most efficient use of all available resources
  • Self-reliant and motivated with proven ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Understand profit and loss and how to affect its result through their actions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good English (minimum level – intermediate)
  • Computer proficient, including graphical software (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc)
